“This decision is one of the best I have ever made and there is no looking back”
Hello! I’m Sriranjani, a 20-year old Visual Communication graduate from India, joining the MA Advertising course this September. Being an armchair traveler, I decided it was finally time to fly the nest.
Pursuing a Master’s degree in the UK has always been my dream. After I met and spoke with a BU representative at an international education fair, I instantly knew that this was the place I wanted to go. Where else other than one of the best Media and Communications faculties in the country?
Though I had applied to a few other universities, I was over the moon when I got my offer from BU. Excitement swallowed me whole and I would Google, countless times, images of this beautiful town where I would soon be studying and living. The beach and the (hopefully) warm weather made me feel like Bournemouth will be a home away from home.
However, one afternoon, I got an email from the university saying that my scholarship applications had been unsuccessful. This was a huge disappointment to me as I needed the extra funds to be able to attend BU. But help will always be given to those who deserve it, not only at Hogwarts, but also at BU! To my great joy, a couple of weeks later, I was offered a discretionary in-country scholarship along with the Academic Excellence scholarship, and I was, once again, on cloud nine. I would get to attend the University of my dreams after all!
With less than a week left before my arrival in Bournemouth, I’m absolutely thrilled and also a little scared to start this new stage of my life. I will be leaving behind many things, but I know that this decision is one of the best I have ever made and there is no looking back. BU, here I come!
