This prestigious award celebrates collaborative partnerships between universities and healthcare providers in educating nursing and midwifery students. Through academic and practical learning students are prepared for their future careers in providing excellent patient care.
To be shortlisted in the Partnership Working category, Bournemouth University and Yeovil District Foundation Trust submitted evidence which highlighted their close working relationship. The organisations work together in curriculum development, placement planning, clinical skills training and work placement support.
The entry titled ‘Blurring the lines’ demonstrated exceptional collaboration in a number of areas including:
- Use of innovative “hands-on” teaching skills to ensure students get the chance to put into practice what they have learnt in the classroom
- Enriching students’ learning experience so that they appreciate some of the wider issues involved in delivering care
- Co-ordinating learning experiences to create a cohesive student experience that maximises learning opportunities
- Partnership working that reflects respect, equality, sustainability and a shared vision for quality healthcare delivery
Claire Uren, Bournemouth University’s Practice Learning Advisor, said: “I am delighted to hear that we have been shortlisted for the Partnership of the Year award.
“We have an excellent relationship with Yeovil District Hospital which promotes a positive learning experience for our students”
Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony on Thursday 7 May at the London Hilton Hotel.
