There’s a range of accommodation you can choose from. The student village is conveniently located on campus, so you’re minutes’ walk from the lecture theatres, which can of course be handy if you plan on spending hours in the library late at night or have a tendency to hit the snooze button on your alarm 5 times over (like me!). The student village is made up of shared houses with single rooms and shared bathrooms, kitchen and communal areas.

A lot of first year students opt to stay in the halls of residence at the Lansdowne campus though, because it’s in the town centre close to the high-street, the beach, nightlife and the travel interchange. A couple of the buildings have been refurbished in the past couple of years, Chesil House, Dorchester House and most recently Cranborne House, so they look pretty swish. They comprise of cluster flats of about 5-7 en-suite bedrooms, so you have the luxury of your own bathroom and share a kitchen and communal area. Check out the photos on our Facebook page for a better idea: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.263975930421208.1073741834.150849161733886&type=3.

Alternatively you can opt to stay in one of the unilet houses, these are privately owned houses in the local area managed by BU. The bonus of living in these is that, house depending, you might manage to grab yourself a parking space on a driveway or road just outside. BU is hot on being a green University, so we don’t have any parking at our halls of residence. It can be a daunting prospect moving into a house with a bunch of strangers, but it can also be a great way to make new friends!
