Lecturer in Law
Annaliese Wren is a Lecturer in Law at Bournemouth University and a member of CIPPM.
Her research interests lie primarily in copyright and art law, particularly the relationship between copyright law and contemporary artistic practice, and the challenges posed by emerging technologies and non-conventional forms of artistic expression, including sensory art. She also conducts empirical research to explore artists’ experiences and understandings of copyright law, and how copyright operates in practice.
Her PhD at the University of Bristol examined the definition of artistic works under UK copyright law, using tactile artistic works as a case study to explore visual assumptions within existing copyright frameworks. Alongside her doctoral research, Annaliese holds a BA in History and History of Art and a MA in Law, and has undertaken further study in Art Law at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
