Lowri-RobertsIf you are having any doubts about whether BU is the place for you or even if you are certain this is where you are going to pursue postgraduate study, there is no better way to get to know the place a little better than by attending a Postgraduate Open Afternoon.

These are packed full of prospective students, current students and staff. You are more than welcome to bring parents or friends with you so that they can have a look around as well and see for themselves how fantastic Bournemouth University is! The Open Afternoons provide a great atmosphere where you are able to explore the campus and meet some of the talented academics for the first time. Upon arrival, you are given information on where talks are held throughout the day along with a campus map and some additional information on what the day will bring. Usually, there are signs pointing you in the right direction and a multitude of student ambassadors pretty in pink, ready to help you with any queries you may have.

The student ambassadors also offer campus tours where they will take you on a guided tour, giving you information at different locations around the campus. Canpus-toursThey really are brilliant (I was one last year!) and you couldn’t have better people taking you around as they are all students here and really believe in their university. You will also be shown facilities at the specific school you’ll be studying at, so that you have a better insight in to where you’ll be based and the high standard of professional equipment you’ll be working with.

A variety of talks are held throughout the day on several subjects including the types of accommodation offered, what to expect from your time at BU, the facilities available to you at the university (including the award winning library) and of course the funding opportunities available for your studies.

Perhaps the most important part of the day is meeting with an academic from your school of interest who will discuss various aspects about the course you are interested in. They might discuss available units, travelling opportunities, layout of the year and success stories of students and academics within that school (there are many!). The informal appointment with your particular academic will either be in a small group or if you are really lucky, on a one to one basis. This is a really nice personal touch that the university offers on Postgraduate Open Afternoons, giving you a connection with an academic you will be closely working with in future.

    Hi,
If possible can you prepare a “Virtual Tour of BU campuses video” and post? It will be helpful for overseas students like me

    thanks
