Dr Lingling Wei presented her paper on Olympic Enclosure of Generic Words at the annual Congress of International Association of Sports law in Athens (from 11-13th December ). The paper examines the event specific legislation enacted for mega sporting games such Olympics. It concludes that the legislation’s approach of enclosing the generic words for the protection of sponsors fails to strike the right balance between the interested parties. The presentation was very well received. It is great to see the sports law community getting more interested in IP issues. Professor Ma from China University of Political Science and Law invited Lingling to contribute to the special edition he is currently organising.
