Senior Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law
Suelen Carls is a Senior Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at Bournemouth University and an Affiliated Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, where she worked before joining Bournemouth University in July 2022. She has degrees in Law and Development Studies. Her current research interests focus, on the one hand, on Intellectual Property & Green Life Sciences, targeting issues like the role of patents in food security, and on the other hand, on Intellectual Property strategy, internationalization of companies, and law and economics. Suelen’s research usually connects to regional development issues and deals mostly with Latin American emerging economies.
