Ruth’s research interests focus on intellectual property education in the H.E sector. She specializes in the intellectual property education of lawyers, IP attorneys, IP creators, IP managers and business advisers at Bournemouth University and Bayes Business School (formerly Cass). She is Visiting Professor in IP for the University of the Arts London and Honorary Visiting Professor at City University, London.
Ruth was IP Thematic Expert in EUIPO Intellectual Property and Education in Europe research project (2015) and investigator on the UKIPO research in Designs Infringement (2018).
She is Member of the European Intellectual Property Teachers Network (EIPTN) and convenor of the Intellectual Property Awareness Network’s (IPAN) Education Group, that led on the research, with National Union of Students, into student attitudes to intellectual property.
She contributed innovative IP education approaches to the Arts Council England Boosting Resilience programme (2018) and curated the IPKat Education Series of blogs (2019/20).
Her book, co-edited with Dr Sabine Jacques titled Teaching Intellectual Property Law: Strategy and Management was published by Edward Elgar in 2023.
