- ORI Robotic Simulator
The Orthopaedic Research Institute (ORI) recently welcomed final-year Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) students for an immersive training session focused on orthopaedic scrub skills. This long-standing collaboration between ORI and the BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice course, continues to provide essential hands-on learning opportunities for future healthcare professionals.
The session combined theoretical discussion with practical application, offering students a comprehensive introduction to orthopaedic procedures and the latest research influencing clinical practice. Students had the opportunity to use ORI’s state-of-the-art hip and knee simulators, enhanced by virtual and augmented reality technologies. These advanced tools enabled students to safely refine their techniques and gain valuable experience in a realistic but controlled environment.
By bridging the gap between classroom learning and clinical practice, ORI plays a vital role in preparing students for the demands of modern surgical care. We are proud to support the development of the next generation of ODPs and look forward to continuing this successful partnership.
