Congratulations to Associate Professor Tom Wainwright and Consultant Physiotherapist Matthew Low who have published an article in the Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine on the rehabilitation of COVID-19 patients. The article is titled “Beyond Acute Care: Why collaborative self-management should be an essential part of rehabilitation pathways for COVID-19 patients”.

Associate Professor Tom Wainwright:

“Matthew and I were discussing the future challenge for rehabilitation pathways following COVID-19, and how important we both felt self-management strategies would be. We then noticed that this was not being covered in the latest articles on COVID-19 rehab and so decided to collaborate on this article. We are both passionate about promoting active self-management with our patients, and

it’s a key feature of research that we are collaborating on for patients with osteoarthritis (NIHR funded CLEAT study). We hope that our article will help to highlight the role it could play for patients recovering from COVID-19”

Matthew Low is a Consultant Physiotherapist at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and a Visiting Associate at ORI.
