Welcome message from the Dean

I am delighted to welcome you to the Bournemouth University Law Review (BULR). This new journal represents co-creation between students and staff here at BU at its very best. By bringing together law staff and students, the BULR provides a platform for showcasing student work, with input from staff to ensure the articles are of a professional and publishable standard.

The editorial board and contributions include students from all levels (Undergraduate, Masters and PhD) and represent staff from various law disciplines. In this way, the journal showcases different law subjects and the research expertise of the law department as a whole.

Professor Dinusha Mendis, Professor of Intellectual Property & Innovation Law and Co-Director of CIPPM and Mr. Jeffery Wale, Lecturer in Law and LLB Programme Leader have worked together to make the BULR a reality. Funding awarded by the Centre for Excellence in Learning (CEL) to Miss Megan Mayers (a final year law student) and Professor Dinusha Mendis in Autumn 2016 made the launch of the journal possible. I would like to thank Dinusha, Jeff and all others who have been involved for all their hard work to make this journal a reality.

Students from the Faculty of Media and Communication, as well as the Faculty Marketing and Design teams have been involved in designing the journal and the microsite that accompanies it. It is, therefore, a Faculty effort, showcasing the law department, of which everyone can be immensely proud.

I hope you enjoy reading all the articles published in this edition of the BULR and in the future.

Professor Michael Wilmore

Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication (2016-2019)
