Snap Election: UK’s voters out again this June as PM calls for early election

This morning, UK Prime Minister Theresa May kept us on our toes as we were told of her plans to interrupt all major TV channels with an unexpected major announcement outside of Downing Street.  The media had been informed less than two hours before it was scheduled to begin at 11:15, causing a bit of chaos on what it might be despite general election rumours trending on twitter.

The UK Prime Minister Theresa May called for a general election as early as the 8th of June (the next was due in 2020), and will win the two-thirds majority in a Parliamentary vote tomorrow as Labour and the Liberal Democrats have already voiced their support of the election.

The doubt on what the announcement would concern was due to the PM’s ongoing pledge that she would not call for an early election.  However timing is ripe as the main opposition Labour party currently is in shambles, making her position incredibly strong for the upcoming early elections.  At present, the Conservative party has a slim majority in the House of Commons, which will make Brexit negotiations somewhat tougher as disagreements in parliament continue.  This election, should the Conservative party win, will make Theresa May have a strong mandate in parliament and an improved majority in parliament which will undoubtedly help PM May control success as bills get passed through parliament.
