Today, UCAS published its analysis of all full-time undergraduate applications submitted by the Friday 24 March 2017 deadline.
Findings from both the January and March statistical releases show a decrease of approximately 4% in applicants compared to findings from last year.
UCAS reports that the current figures for the number of applicants to higher education from across the UK is as follows:
- 408,500 from England (a decrease of 5% on 2016)
- 19,950 from Northern Ireland (down 4% on 2016)
- 46,720 from Scotland (down 1% on 2016)
- 20,840 from Wales (down 6% on 2016)
In relation to international students, the analysis shows that applications have risen by 2% to 60,630. EU applicants, on the other hand, have dropped by 6% to 45,140.
