A Leadership Foundation for Higher Education report, The Impact of Leadership and Leadership Development: A Review of the Literature and Evidence, has been published recently, presenting research on higher education-leadership development.
The report concludes that there is not an adequate amount of literature to help improve university leadership, and that most research to-date does not analyse impact over several years, making its reliability low and theory weak. Rather than be ‘very small-scale, local and atheoretical’, research should endeavour to be nationally significant.
