The Associate Director of Research at the Center for Internationalization & Global Engagement, American Council on Education, and the Associate Director of the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College, have published a report tackling issues related to national policies and internationalisation.
Internationalizing Higher Education Worldwide explores policies from around the world, organising internationalisation policy into five categories: student mobility, scholar mobility and research collaboration, cross-border education, internationalisation at home, and comprehensive internationalisation policies. The report concludes with some key factors to ensure effective impact:
- Do not underestimate the importance and impact of government funding
- Make sure to engage the right actors
- Ensure that one policy does not undermine or decrease the impact of another
- Ensure there are synergies between national and HEI policies
