About the Festival

Bournemouth University invites you to join us in celebrating the joy of learning at our fifth annual Festival of Learning. Don’t miss out on our jam-packed five-day programme of free
events, activities and opportunities.

We are passionate about our research and the learning environment we create here on your doorstep. That’s why we take every opportunity to work closely with you, our local community, to create and share knowledge. Making a difference to society is at the heart of everything we do, so we can’t wait to share our discoveries with you this summer. We have some amazing events and activities to capture your imagination, and get you to interact, debate and connect with our staff, students and partners.

This year we’re thrilled to have Anna McNuff opening the festival on Saturday 8 July. Anna is one of the most exciting contemporary female adventurers of our time (and self-confessed mischief maker). She will share fabulous insights from her travels and inspire us all to believe that there is more than one way to be an adventurer. Understanding the world around us is also the core theme of this year’s festival.

Our enthusiasm for celebrating the joy of learning knows no boundaries and, following last year’s exciting venture, we are again taking the Festival of Learning across the world, stopping off in ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), India and China before returning to Bournemouth in July. Don’t miss our action-packed closing day on Wednesday 12 July which will bring our global adventures to life.

With over 140 events, this year’s festival has something for everyone. Browse through the programme to plan your visit and place your bookings early to avoid disappointment. We look forward to welcoming you.
