Mr Kieran Gallagher
Date of Fellowship: February 2017 to December 2017
Current Appointment(s): Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedics, Poole and Royal Bournemouth Hospital Trusts
Biography:
I qualified as a Doctor from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2003 and did my Specialist Training in Orthopaedics as a Registrar on the South West Thames London rotation. I attained my CCT in 2017 and entered into Professor Middleton’s Fellowship during 2018. In January 2019 I was appointed to Poole Hospital as Consultant with a sub-speciality in hips. My scope of work includes primary and revision hip arthroplasty and hip arthroscopy. I lead the Neck of Femur fracture service at the largest volume centre in the UK.
Comments on time as Prof Middleton (ORI) Fellow:
The Fellowship with Professor Middleton allows the development of independent practice in the sub-speciality field of hip surgery, The post has a high volume of primary and revision work with good exposure to elective and trauma. The Fellowship also allows for the development of research skills as part of the Orthopaedic Research Institute at Bournemouth University. I was able to confidently take up my Consultant post after this Fellowship due to having a robust logbook and practice at running my own lists.
