Mr Antony Raymond
Date of Fellowship: January 2020 to December 2020
Current Appointment(s): Consultant at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust
I did my surgical training on the University College London Hospital Programme. I gained experience in complex joint replacement at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and major trauma surgery at the Royal London Hospital. I then did the Orthopaedic Trauma Association fellowship at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, US before completing the hip surgery fellowship at Royal Bournemouth Hospital under Professor Middleton. Next I secured the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship with Dr Peter D’Alessandro where I focussed on arthroscopic hip and soft tissue knee surgery. Finally I undertook the Fremantle revision arthroplasty fellowship under Professor Piers Yates in Perth, Australia.
I am currently a Consultant at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust, where I focus on hip arthroplasty, resurfacing, arthroscopic surgery of the hip and knee and trauma surgery.
Comments on time as Prof Middleton (ORI) Fellow:
Rob Middleton’s fellowship provided a staged introduction to hip arthroplasty and before I gained experience with a high volume of independently performed hip replacements. I had excellent exposure to primary and revision arthroplasty, periprosthetic fracture management as well as robotic hip surgery. Professor Middleton is a very busy hip arthroplasty surgeon who gives a lot of sage advice. If you want to run a safe, efficient practice and gain good exposure to hip surgery, I would highly recommend this fellowship.
