Earlier this month, Associate Professor Tom Wainwright was invited to speak in Newcastle at a conference jointly hosted by The British Association of Day Surgery, and the Quality Improvement in Surgical Teams (QIST) collaborative from Northumbria Healthcare.
Tom was invited to the event by Prof Mike Reed, and was asked to talk about “Using Data to drive Performance” in day case arthroplasty surgery. This allowed him to pick out key points from his recent commentary article with Prof Henrik Kehlet, and also highlight the soon to be published ERAS Society guidelines for hip and knee replacement that he has led the development of. Tom reported: “as always it was great to visit Northumbria and learn from colleagues across the country who are pioneering day case arthroplasty. It was also a great opportunity to meet with colleagues at Northumbria Healthcare and plan a forth coming clinical trial that we are setting up there.”
