On Tuesday the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, delivered the Spring Statement and as predicted there was minimal reference to the higher education sector: £20 million has been ring fenced for universities and businesses to conduct research into “greener products and processes” and a small allocation of money will be provided to employers engaging in skills provisions: £50m to prepare for T-level placements and up to £80m to support small companies in employing apprentices.
