Today was due to be another extremely hot day, so everyone was sure to cover up and make sure that every part of exposed skin was slathered in sun cream. The square feature in Trench 1 was covered over with fabric in order to try to protect any features within it, as the sun was starting to bake the soil. As the features wouldn’t be very deep, the change in temperature would affect the preservation of anything within the square feature. One of the pits in Trench 1 was troweling over in order to determine the edge of the pit so that it can be sectioned and then excavated. The pit was then covered to protect anything within it until it can be excavated. Large amounts of Bronze Age pottery were found in the western sections of the ditch, and a large piece of Bronze Age pottery was found in the most western section of the enclosure ditch in Trench 1.
In Trench 2 a mandible was uncovered in feature [2014], context (2013) by students Emily Dowden and Jessica Greenhalgh. Excavations also continued in the two ditches from Trench 2. Students were also set to work on the ditch in Trench 1, as well as the Roman working area that lies on top of the ditch.
