We are pleased to confirm that Dr Mike Slade will deliver one of two keynote addresses at thisyear’s UDMH Conference.
Dr Slade, a Reader in Health Services Research at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in South London, will speak on “Learning from recovery and well-being research”.
His main research interests are recovery-focused and outcome-focused mental health services, user involvement in and influence on mental health services, staff-patient agreement on need, residential alternatives to in-patient services, and contributing to the development of clinically useable outcome measures, including the Camberwell Assessment of Need and the Threshold Assessment Grid.
He has written over 150 academic articles and 7 books. He co-authored Making Recovery a Reality (2008, free to download at www.scmh.org.uk), the most downloaded document ever published by the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health. His most recent books are Personal Recovery and Mental Illness (published by Cambridge University Press, 2009) and 100 Ways to Support Recovery (2009, free to download at rethink.org/100ways).
