Whether you fancy yourself as a TV presenter, think you might be the next Fearne Cotton or simply just enjoy writing news stories, Nerve media, the student’s Union Media platform here at Bournemouth University has something for everyone.
Consisting of Nerve TV, Nerve Magazine, Nerve Radio, Nerve Online and Nerve News, they bring the very best in student journalism, from their very own radio channel, to entertainment and fashion news all of which can be accessed on their webpage.
Nerve is totally run by students, so the more of us that get involved with it the better! Being a part of it can not only enhance your skills and be valuable experience but it’s a great chance to get your work published and get noticed by potential employers, and what’s not to like about that?
It’s a close knit community of media mad students, so if you have a particular interest in the news or aspire to have a career in the media, it’s definitely worth getting involved in as you can not only make new friends (and potential future contacts), but you can also share your expertise and learn from others.
And before you even begin to think of the extra unwanted workload, the good news is, you can fit your nerve volunteering around your studies, and it’s entirely up to you what day you choose to get involved. Also, if you’re really struggling to meet an assignment deadline, the guys really don’t mind if you give your slot a miss for a week. Oh and the socials are ace!
Another great aspect of Nerve is that you can get involved as little or as often as you like, as the team often post upcoming roles on their Facebook page as well as opportunities to work in the studio and practice your presenting skills. As a student at the media school myself, I would highly recommend getting involved with Nerve, you’ll meet a squad-full of new mates, and gain an abundance of industry skills.
So prospective students, come along to one of our many open days and explore the world of Nerve for yourselves; as for the current students, what’re you waiting for? Get signed up now!
