If you’re a vegetarian like me, you may get the occasional eye-roll and people saying “so you just eat fruit and vegetables…?”

Well, I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life and with new restaurants and a growing population to please, being a vegetarian has never been more tasty or easy and I’m here to show you whose food you need to try, whether you’re a vegetarian, or you just want to know what all the fuss is about!

  1. Mad Cucumber

Mad Cucumber was the very first vegan café in Bournemouth and is perfectly situated in Bournemouth’s town centre. They have such an array of dishes, such as bean chilli, veggie curry, vegan burritos and marinated salad bowls – not forgetting to mention all of the delicious cakes! And with all the food being vegan, you don’t have to scour out the green ‘V’ as you would in most places!

  1. Sweet Greens

If you’re looking for a slightly healthier option, Sweet Greens may be the place for you. It has delicious raw foods, almond milk lattes and a variety of fancy salads. Of course décor is very important too, and with wooden, up-cycled décor it’s perfect for an Instagram picture. Are you really there if you don’t Instagram it?

  1. Conto Lounge

Definitely one of my favourite places ever since I moved to Bournemouth a few years ago. There are plenty of options for vegetarians; my favourite being the Vegetarian Breakfast and the Mac and Cheese. As the food is fairly inexpensive, and the staff are really friendly, it’s perfect for a Sunday morning brunch (when you want to leave the house).

  1. Aruba

For those of you who ‘do like to be beside the seaside’, Aruba is a lovely open-plan restaurant and bar overlooking the beach. With a range of vegetarian AND vegan choices such as the veggie curry and the black-bean burger this place is perfect for an evening meal with your housemates. Just FYI, the cocktails aren’t bad on the palate either…

  1. On Campus

Of course you’ll be spending a lot of time on campus and with the variety of vegetarian and vegan food, you definitely won’t go hungry. Dylan’s does amazing deals for students and I would definitely recommend trying out the burgers! Also, with Starbucks and Costa scattered round, their famous paninis are a great choice for a quick lunch!
