The askBU team has been busy again this week! Here are the top 5 questions you’ve been asking.

1. I’ve been offered a place for Business Studies, I applied for Business Studies with Marketing – is this right?

Yes, please don’t worry. Our Business Studies courses all have the same first year as they are in the same framework. It’s in year two when you’ll specialise into the various branches of the course we have (Business Studies with Marketing, Business Studies with Law etc).

2. I’m from a non-EU country and have been living in the UK for 2 years; can I apply for one of your NHS funded nursing courses?

I would recommend you contact the Nursing and Midwifery council for full guidelines regarding NHS-funded health professional courses (i.e. Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Operating Department Practice). We are unable to offer a place to anyone who is not eligible for an NHS bursary. This normally means that you will need to have been resident in the UK for more than 3 years, not using a student visa.

3. I’ve missed the deadline for UCAS applications, is it too late to apply?

Not at all! Just visit our course listings to check if your course is open for late or UCAS Extra applications. UCAS Extra opens on February 25.

We would strongly recommend you submit your application as soon as possible through UCAS. Our admissions team reviews applications on individual merit and views everything as a whole. We take into consideration your academic background, any related work experience, references and your personal statement. For us to be able to provide a decision, we will need to be fully equipped with everything to assess your suitability for the course including your references.

4. I’ll be joining BU in September 2015, when does the new academic term start?

Congratulations! That’s great news! Arrivals Fortnight begins on 14 September 2015, with a wide range of events to help students transition into university life.

Students in the School of Health & Social Care will begin on 21 September 2015.

There will be a mix of academic and non-academic content during this time, details to be confirmed nearer the time, in addition to some more formal activities such as enrolment and a main school induction session. In August, students will receive all of these details, in addition to all of the events that will be taking place when they receive their Welcome Pack.

5. What happens at an Undergraduate Open Day?

These days are a great opportunity for you to ask questions about your course of interest, attend specific course talks, visit a wide variety of exhibition stands, both academic and non-academic, chat with the academic teams, tour the campus, visit a variety of our accommodation facilities, find out information on fees and funding and learn more about student life at BU.
