The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Ministry of Tourism of Greece and the Region of Central Macedonia have partnered together to organize the\u00a0Joint UNWTO and PATA Session:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span>“Connecting Asia and Europe through the Silk Road”<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

8th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

in Thessaloniki, Greece on 10-12 October 2018.

\nTogether with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), a joint session will take place examining how – by leveraging marketing and technical platforms – destinations can maximise promotion via storytelling techniques that drive tourism in new markets. Speakers include PATA CEO Dr. Mario Hardy and PATA Regional Director Daniela Wagner,\u00a0as well as senior executives from TCI Research, TripAdvisor, ECA2, Thessaloniki Convention Bureau, Esplorio, Mastercard, TravelBeat and Leading Culture Destinations. PATA member and UNWTO Affiliate Board Member\u00a0Professor Dimitrios Buhalis\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Head of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Bournemouth University<\/a>\u00a0is also an invited speaker.<\/span><\/p>\n

This international Silk Road meeting will be hosted for the very first time by a European Silk Road Member State, and focus on the overarching role and relevance of the Silk Road within a globalized tourism framework.\u00a0We invite all international partner agencies, interested stakeholders from around the globe, both public and private, to attend this event. Participation in the joint UNWTO and PATA session is free of cost; only registration for the event is required.<\/p>\n
