Honorary Dr Peter Long will be visiting us on Wednesday 19<\/b><\/span>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span> October.\u00a0<\/b>He will deliver a lecture from 10.30-11.15 <\/b>in the Share LT. <\/b>Peter will speak about and take questions on his outstanding and prominent career in the travel industry and on his role as President of the Family Holiday Association, the leading charity that works to provide opportunities for disadvantaged families to have a holiday.\u00a0Peter is very keen to speak with our students and he will also contribute to an employability event during his visit. Peter\u2019s audience will primarily be students of tourism and hospitality but this event will also be of interest to colleagues and students of business and management. Please contact me if you will attend and promote Peter\u2019s visit to students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter will also deliver the STEEP ‘Kickstart Day’ introduction from 13.00-14.00 in the Marconi LT<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Profile \u00a0<\/b><\/span>Peter Long was one of the architects of the 2007 consolidation in European tour operating in which First Choice Holidays merged with TUI Tourism to become one of the largest leisure travel groups in the world. TUI Travel\u2019s businesses range from market-leading sun and beach brands to specialist activity and adventure and online accommodation providers. Post-merger, Peter Long presided over excellent business results in sometimes challenging market conditions. TUI Travel merged with TUI AG on 17th December 2014 to form the TUI Group, the world’s largest tourism company. Peter Long was until recently Joint Chief Executive of the Group and is now Chairman of its Supervisory Board. He was appointed President of the Family Holidays Association in 2013 and Chairman of the Royal Mail in 2015. He received his honorary doctorate from Bournemouth University in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n
