The visitor economy sector includes all activities which contribute to visitors\u2019 experiences.<\/p>\n

At the core are the components of the tourism product, such as accommodation, food,<\/p>\n

restaurants, transport and attractions. The concept, however, is much broader as the economy<\/p>\n

caters for the needs of visitors and not only tourists. It embraces all activities, infrastructure<\/p>\n

and services provided to make each visitor’s\u00a0experience possible. This is a multi-billion-pound<\/p>\n

global sector and to create a successful visitor economy, it is necessary to manage each<\/p>\n

individual component of the economy efficiently with a focus on the needs of visitors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This makes the sector a complex one. Being an ultra-competitive sector, businesses involved<\/p>\n

are constantly introducing innovations to maintain their comparative advantages.<\/p>\n

These strategies and innovations are used to build resilience into destinations and businesses<\/p>\n

to improve their international competitiveness. These may be achieved by implementing<\/p>\n

innovations leading to cost reduction, improvement in productivity, improvement in the quality<\/p>\n

of product and the creation of new products or better delivery systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
