{"id":3583,"date":"2016-07-08T11:09:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T11:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/?p=3583"},"modified":"2016-07-08T11:09:29","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T11:09:29","slug":"metin_kozak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/2016\/07\/08\/metin_kozak\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Professor Metin Kozak\u200e, Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey to Bournemouth University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to <a href=\"http:\/\/metinkozak.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Metin Kozak\u200e,<\/a> Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey to the D<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\">epartment of Tourism and Hospitality, Bournemouth University.<\/a> He will spend two months with us working with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buhalis.com\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Dimitrios Buhalis<\/a> on a research project funded by the Turkish government\u00a0<strong>The Establishment of Joint Cross-border Destination Marketing. <\/strong>The study objectives\u00a0include 1) the identification of potential instruments\/organisations taking place in a cross-border collaborative destination marketing between Greece and Turkey; 2) suggesting solutions for any possible barriers that may hinder a successful implementation of cross-border collaborative destination marketing; and 3) the discussion of possible benefits\/advantages for both parts in order to be successful for marketing in international tourism.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2016\/07\/kozak.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3585\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3585\" src=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2016\/07\/kozak.jpg\" alt=\"kozak\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2016\/07\/kozak.jpg 960w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2016\/07\/kozak-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2016\/07\/kozak-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>Metin is a specialist in\u00a0quality management, benchmarking, destination management and marketing, consumer behaviour, competitiveness, and branding.\u00a0He\u00a0holds a Bachelor\u2019s degree from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cu.edu.tr\/Eng\/Default.aspx\">Cukurova University<\/a> (Turkey), Master\u2019s from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deu.edu.tr\/deuwebv2\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dokuz Eylul University<\/a> (Turkey) and Ph.D. from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/\">Sheffield Hallam University<\/a> (UK); all relating to tourism and hospitality management. He\u00a0has published a wider range of articles in top-tier journals such as (i.e. Annals, TM, JTR, IJHM, Cornell Quarterly, JTTM), conference papers in more than 40 countries and books released by Elsevier, Routledge, CABI, Emerald, Cambridge Scholars Publishing among others. He is the co-editor of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.metinkozak.net\/www.tandf.co.uk\/journals\/rana\" target=\"_blank\">Anatolia<\/a>\u00a0and serves an editorial board member of over 25 journals including Annals, JTR, JTTM, JBR and TA. In addition, he was a Research Fellow in 2005-2006 at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unamur.be\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Namur<\/a> (Belgium) and as Visiting Professor at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hotelschool.shtm.polyu.edu.hk\/eng\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">Hong Kong Polytechnic University<\/a> (Hong Kong SAR).<\/p>\n<p>He is\u00a0involved in several tourism-based national and international research projects, particularly with his partners based in Europe and the US. Developing such partnerships has resulted in publishing quality journal papers, conference presentations and book chapters.\u00a0As of September 2015, his works have received over 300 citations in ISI-referenced journals and over 6,000 citations counted by Google Scholar. Recently,\u00a0he\u00a0was ranked among the top 25 prolific tourism researchers in terms of the number of publications from 1985 to 2004 (Zhao &amp; Ricthie, 2007) and from 2000 to 2009 (Park, Phillips, Cantr &amp; Abbott, 2011). He\u00a0was also ranked among the top 50 prolific scholars in terms of the frequency of cited articles (McKercher, 2008).
