{"id":1000,"date":"2012-12-11T13:22:24","date_gmt":"2012-12-11T13:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/?p=1000"},"modified":"2012-12-11T13:22:24","modified_gmt":"2012-12-11T13:22:24","slug":"philippa-hudson-gets-interviewed-by-two-radio-stations-regarding-her-recent-research-on-childrens-lunchboxes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/2012\/12\/11\/philippa-hudson-gets-interviewed-by-two-radio-stations-regarding-her-recent-research-on-childrens-lunchboxes\/","title":{"rendered":"Philippa Hudson gets interviewed by two radio stations regarding her recent research on children\u2019s lunchboxes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2012\/12\/Phili.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1001\" title=\"Phili\" src=\"http:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/tourism\/files\/2012\/12\/Phili-300x196.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last week senior lecturer Philippa Hudson was interviewed by Radio Solent and Radio Wessex regarding how clean children\u2019s lunchboxes actually are.<\/p>\n<p>Philippa had already previously appeared in the Bournemouth Echo sharing her research on children\u2019s lunchboxes.<\/p>\n<p>The research, by Philippa and dissertation student Hannah Walley, took place at a junior school in Dorset where more than half of pupils took in a packed lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Lunchboxes were kept in trays in corridors, and temperatures were measured throughout the day over a school term.<\/p>\n<p>The results showed that all but one of the lunchboxes \u2013 which had a large ice pack inside \u2013 reached potentially dangerous temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>Philippa said: \u201cThere has been a lot of concern about healthy eating and what children are putting in their lunchbox, but nothing about how safe the food is in their lunchbox.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lunchboxes started off refrigerated, but by about 10am they were at ambient temperature.
