Making the most out of your first term at Uni<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am Jenny from Germany studying BA (Hons) Scriptwriting for Film and Television.\u00a0 Coming to Uni can feel a bit overwhelming at times. You might feel as if you don\u2019t really know what you\u2019re doing with your life and for many students it\u2019s the first time that they are away from their parents. There is no need to worry, here are a few tips I can give you that will make the whole experience a lot less daunting.<\/p>\n

Life\/work balance<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course, you\u2019re going to University to study and learn about new things you\u2019re passionate about, but don\u2019t overwork yourself. Make sure you also go out with friends and have fun. I can ensure you it will make your life a lot less stressful which in return will lead to better academic performance as well.<\/p>\n

Your flatmates<\/strong><\/p>\n

Make sure you make the effort to come out of your room and socialise with your flatmates. These are the people you are going to live with for at least a year, so planning activities together will definitely pay off.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget to get to know the town you have moved to. Maybe go for a shopping trip with your friends and flatmates or take a walk along the beach together.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

Lectures and seminars<\/strong><\/p>\n

While it can be tempting not to turn up to that 9am lecture, Uni is all about taking responsibility for your own actions. No-one is going to force you to go like they did at school, but think about what you\u2019ll be getting out of going.<\/p>\n

Get involved<\/strong><\/p>\n

Getting involved in one or more of the many clubs and societies offered by Bournemouth University is definitely something you should consider. You\u2019ll meet new people and have all kinds of new experiences and it will look good on your CV!<\/p>\n

Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are facing any sort of problems, whether that is homesickness or academic related struggles, then one of the many resources offered by the University will be able to help you. You are not alone so look for support if you need it!<\/p>\n

I hope these tips will help you make the most of your first term at Bournemouth.<\/p>\n
