\nSecond year BSc (Hons) Cyber Security Management student Sophia\u00a0McCall is the latest example of a BU\u00a0computing student receiving national\u00a0recognition when she was called up\u00a0to Team UK for the European Cyber\u00a0Security Challenge.\u00a0Sophia was one of a ten-strong\u00a0team that comprised students and\u00a0industry

<\/a>professionals. With 15 countries taking part, Sophia and her team performed exceptionally well to secure a third-placed finish – but even making the team itself was a remarkable achievement.\u00a0Sophia faced multiple rounds of tough qualifiers to become a team representative; she participated in online and face to face qualifiers – tasks including\u00a0ethical hacking challenges, security challenges, hardware hacking and then presentations. She said: \u201cOur lecturers have given us fantastic support to get us to the competitions, and their advice on particular challenges has been really supportive.\u201d Sophia is also the Vice President of BU\u2019s Cyber Security Society.
