Fresher\u2019s is great for getting to know the people around you, the beautiful Bournemouth area and of course for making those lifetime new friends- But what if you don’t fancy drinking alcohol during week one, or maybe just need a rest from the \u2018bar type\u2019 environment, but still want to meet new people?<\/p>\n

Well, here at BU we\u2019ve got everybody covered. This year for Fresher\u2019s 2018, ResLife<\/a> @ BU “your home away from home” in conjunction with Club Soda have got a little something in store….<\/p>\n

Each night in a different halls of residence, there will be a pop up bar with tasters of alcoholic free beers, ciders, wines and much more! Here, you can let your hair down in your own social spaces to make friends, socialise and truly chill out- and you won’t be waking up with a booming headache or early morning lecture- sounds perfect, right?!<\/p>\n

BU recognise the vast variety of differing personalities and interests, and that a lot of students choose either to minimise alcohol consumption, or decide to avoid it altogether. Whatever the your reasons, no explanation needed, just get involved! For those of you who do fancy a drink during Week 1, we have learnt that you would prefer\u00a0a calm and comfortable space to recuperate and regather your energy after that big night (\u2026or nights) out!\u00a0To help\u00a0your time here within our accommodation, we have put some guidelines in to support you during that crucial first week.<\/p>\n

During the week of arrivals,\u00a0each\u00a0September (and it is only the first week) as the new intake of student\u2019s land, we promote\u00a0all BU accommodation as alcohol free spaces. This is not to be the \u2018party poopers\u2019, but rather to provide\u00a0a safe\/calm space for those that do not want to drink alcohol to excess (or at all) and to give you the best\u00a0chance possible to settle in to your new home. That said, if you do want to drink alcohol during this week then we urge you\u00a0to get yourself to your local Student Union Bar (The Old Fire Station) where the\u00a0bar will be open from early evening, and\u00a0great events<\/a>\u00a0(link here) have been arranged for you. So not only can you grab a beverage of choice- but it will give you the\u00a0opportunity to meet fellow fresher\u2019s from\u00a0other flats and halls\u2026 it\u2019s a win-win!<\/p>\n
