Why consider a placement?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Your placement is a fantastic opportunity to network and, if you impress during your work experience, you may even find you have a job waiting for you when you graduate. Many of our graduates have been offered permanent roles with their placement firms \u2013\u00a0a testament to the skills and work ethic our students possess.<\/p>\n

Students on health and social care courses will be placed at various NHS hospitals and medical centres throughout the south west.<\/p>\n

How long are the placements?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mandatory placements vary in length from 2 to 30 weeks \u2013 a full academic year.\u00a0Shorter work placements are typically designed to fit around your modules of study.<\/p>\n

What support is given prior and during my placement?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If your course includes a work placement, or you decide you would like to spend a year in industry, our individual faculty team will help you<\/a> find an appropriate role.\u00a0 We\u2019ll be on hand to provide support throughout your time working in industry.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be given plenty of information about all of your placement options once you start your course.<\/p>\n

Do we get paid during our placements?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We do our best to help all of our students find paid work placements, but is not always possible. We encourage all the employers we work with to provide at least a minimum wage to our students\u00a0(currently \u00a35.55\/hour for\u00a0those aged 18-20, \u00a36.95\/hour for 21-24-year-olds, or \u00a37.20\/hour for anyone 24 or over).\u00a0 You will still be eligible for financial support during your placement year.<\/p>\n

Do I pay my tuition fee when on placement?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you undertake a 30-week placement, students starting with us in September 2017 will only need to pay \u00a3790.<\/p>\n

Can I go abroad? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We offer\u00a0opportunities for overseas study in 20 different countries within our network of partner universities. Countries include Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Norway, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and the USA.\u00a0 Study overseas\u00a0opportunities are normally offered for one semester of study in year two\u00a0or during your placement year (depending on your particular course of study).<\/p>\n

The Erasmus+ mobility scheme<\/a> is designed to help you fund a placement of two months or longer in the European Economic Area (EEA). Funding is available to help cover some of the costs of a work placement in Europe while you’re studying.<\/p>\n

Are placements optional?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although some courses feature mandatory placements, the option to undertake a placement as part of your degree\u00a0is open to every student.<\/p>\n

Do you offer internships?<\/strong><\/p>\n
