\"bcur-logo\"<\/a>The British Conference of Undergraduate Research<\/a> (BCUR<\/a>) celebrates undergraduate research from across all disciplines. Each year a different British university plays host to the conference, welcoming undergraduates from all over the country as they present papers, posters, workshops and performances. In 2017, BCUR <\/a>will be coming to Bournemouth University (BU).<\/p>\n

This prestigious annual conference will take place on 25-26 April 2017 and is a chance to celebrate the achievements of students as they take their first steps into the world of research. We\u2019re looking forward to welcoming students from all disciplines as they share the insights and knowledge they\u2019ve gained through carrying out research.<\/p>\n

Ellie Green, a BA Tourism Management student, presented her dissertation research at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research 2016.\u00a0 Below she shares her experiences of taking part in BCUR.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took part in Posters in Parliament in January 2016, which gave me a great insight into other undergraduate projects being undertaken all over the country.\u00a0 My final year dissertation had been well received by my supervisor, so I was really excited to be able to share my findings at BCUR with other people who had an interest in research,\u201d says Ellie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI gave a presentation based on my dissertation research, entitled \u2018Do animal based attractions have any place in our changing society?\u2019\u00a0 It was the first time I had presented anything to a big group of people outside of my university peers, so it was a great challenge and learning experience for me.\u00a0 I even had one of the founding members of BCUR sit in on my presentation, which was an added pressure!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d definitely recommend taking part in BCUR,\u201d says Ellie, \u201cIt\u2019s a great confidence boost and opens your mind to the variety of undergraduate studies taking place in other universities.\u00a0 I really enjoyed representing my Tourism course and show people that courses such as ours can produce just as innovative and relevant studies as traditional subjects.\u201d<\/p>\n
