One way to break the ice is through food. Depending on the level of cooking ability here are three different dinner\u00a0recipes that you could make for with your\u00a0house, however be careful and check out allergies and varying dietary requirements your friends may have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beginner: Chilli<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This can be either: mild, medium or hot depending on the jar of sauce used.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/undergraduate\/files\/2016\/10\/family-cooking-2-e1476970864347.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5067\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5067 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/undergraduate\/files\/2016\/10\/family-cooking-2-e1476970864347-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"family-cooking-2\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/undergraduate\/files\/2016\/10\/family-cooking-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5067\"><br \/><\/a>\n<p>All you need is (serves 4):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mince 750g<\/li>\n<li>Uncle Bens (or equivalent) chilli con carne jar<\/li>\n<li>Can of baked beans<\/li>\n<li>Rice to serve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Brown off the mince<\/li>\n<li>Add the sauce and the baked beans<\/li>\n<li>Leave to simmer, and cook the rice alongside.<\/li>\n<li>Once the sauce is done, serve with the rice and the meal is complete.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Intermediate: Fajitas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Always tastes great, and if you feel more adventurous make the seasoning yourselves.<\/p>\n<p>All you need is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicken<\/li>\n<li>2 Peppers<\/li>\n<li>1 Onion<\/li>\n<li>Fajita meal kit<\/li>\n<li>Guacamole<\/li>\n<li>Cheese<\/li>\n<li>Sour cream<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Slice chicken, pepper and onion<\/li>\n<li>Follow instructions on the packet and add the seasoning<\/li>\n<li>Once cooked, serve in a tortilla wrap and feel free to add guacamole, cheese and sour cream to your liking. Enjoy!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5068\" src=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/undergraduate\/files\/2016\/10\/family-cooking-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"family-cooking-1\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/>\n<p><strong>Expert: Roast dinner<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is often said to be one of the main things many students miss from home, I know I did, and when its cooking it smells amazing!<\/p>\n<p>A good way of doing a roast dinner as a student is in one dish. This recipe is found through good food, but all you need is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A chicken<\/li>\n<li>1 lemon<\/li>\n<li>Butter<\/li>\n<li>Dried mixed herbs<\/li>\n<li>750g potatoes (roast size)<\/li>\n<li>500g (approx.) carrots<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n<li>100g frozen peas<\/li>\n<li>300ml chicken stock<\/li>\n<li>1tsp marmite (adds flavour)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbcgoodfood.com\/recipes\/775657\/onepan-roast-dinner\">http:\/\/www.bbcgoodfood.com\/recipes\/775657\/onepan-roast-dinner<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can have whatever vegetables you want with it, and you can choose which\u00a0meat you&#8217;d prefer, that\u2019s what makes a roast dinner so versatile.<\/p>\n<p><em>Trust me, it is wonderful!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to living with new housemates, don\u2019t expect everyone to get along, in my case I initially only\u00a0got on well with one of my house mates, the others\u00a0we\u2019d hold conversations with one another, but as a house we didn\u2019t really gel very well. Other houses I knew of all got on really well. But don\u2019t worry; you can cook with your other uni friends instead of your housemates, if you find you don&#8217;t all gel.
