{"id":28036,"date":"2026-07-01T10:00:02","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T09:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/?p=28036"},"modified":"2026-06-08T13:26:51","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T12:26:51","slug":"my-clearing-story-josephine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/2026\/07\/01\/my-clearing-story-josephine\/","title":{"rendered":"My clearing story &#8211; Josephine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Guest blog by Josephine Bangura, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy (with Foundation Year)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although I didn\u2019t get into my original course choice, I knew I still wanted to study something healthcare-related because I\u2019ve always enjoyed working with people and supporting them to improve or manage their health and wellbeing. <strong>That\u2019s when I discovered Occupational Therapy at BU through Clearing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The clearing process was actually much easier than I expected<\/strong>, but at first, I was really nervous. I remember sitting with my friends around a computer at our town\u2019s library, looking through the clearing list and searching for Occupational Therapy courses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/files\/2026\/06\/1000064741.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-28060 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/files\/2026\/06\/1000064741-216x300.jpg\" alt=\"Josephine posing for a picture at the beach\" width=\"216\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/files\/2026\/06\/1000064741-216x300.jpg 216w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/files\/2026\/06\/1000064741-737x1024.jpg 737w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/files\/2026\/06\/1000064741-768x1067.jpg 768w, https:\/\/microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk\/student-blog\/files\/2026\/06\/1000064741.jpg 840w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a>There were a few universities that came up, so I spent time comparing my options and thinking carefully about what would suit me best. <strong>I eventually chose Bournemouth University because a lot of things about it stood out to me.<\/strong> I really liked the distance between the accommodations and the university.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I wanted somewhere that felt convenient and easy to settle into.<\/strong> I also loved the fact that<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bournemouth.ac.uk\/why-bu\/bournemouth-local-area\"> Bournemouth is near the beach<\/a><\/strong>, which felt like such a nice environment to live and study in. <strong>Another major factor for me was distance from home<\/strong>. I didn\u2019t want to move too far away from my family and friends because spending time with them is really important to me. I wanted somewhere where travelling home during holidays or even just visiting when I needed to see them felt realistic and manageable.<\/p>\n<p>Once I decided on Bournemouth, I contacted the admissions team, and they were really helpful in guiding me through the process and explaining everything clearly. I also had a phone interview, which I was nervous about at first, but it went much better than I expected. <strong>Not long after, I received an offer, which was really exciting!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even though I applied later through clearing, choosing accommodation was surprisingly easy, and I still had plenty of options available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Looking back, I\u2019m really glad I went through clearing because it helped me find a course and university that genuinely feels like the right fit for me.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guest blog by Josephine Bangura, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy (with Foundation Year) Although I didn\u2019t get into my original course choice, I knew I still wanted to study something healthcare-related because I\u2019ve always enjoyed working with people and supporting them to improve or manage their health and wellbeing.
