If you are coming to Bournemouth University as a postgraduate student there are lots of accommodation options available<\/a>. Whether it\u2019s halls of residence or a student house, here is your guide to postgraduate accommodation in Bournemouth, from a current Masters student.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Halls of Residence:\"Accommodation<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for an ensuite room, with bills included and many on-site amenities then halls would be a good option for you. There are lots available in Bournemouth, some managed by the University and some by private companies. All of them differ slightly in price and the amenities offered, but most of them are based on Lansdowne Campus which is about a 15 minute bus ride from Talbot Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Okeford House (Bournemouth University Managed):<\/b><\/p>\n

Exclusive to Postgraduate students.<\/span><\/p>\n

95 rooms available – a mixture of standard ensuite (around \u00a3162 per week) or studio flats (around \u00a3192 per week).<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities: access to outdoor courtyard, on-site laundry, CCTV.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located just off Winton high street, about a 20 minute walk from Talbot Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Postgraduate Studio Flats<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are a number of studio flats available for Postgraduate students in the halls managed by Bournemouth University, including Dorchester House (from \u00a3212 a week) and Bailey Point (from \u00a3225 a week) for example.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities: gym, common room, on-site laundry, 24\/7 security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located on Lansdowne Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Privately Run Halls of Residence:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Belaton House<\/b>: a modern halls of residence operated by Yugo.<\/span><\/p>\n

399 rooms in total, mixture of en-suites, studios and two bed flats.<\/span><\/p>\n

From \u00a3183 per week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities: gym, study room, common room, cinema room, onsite laundry, 24\/7 security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located on the Lansdowne campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Oxford Point<\/b>: a contemporary halls of residence, run by a private company.<\/span><\/p>\n

486 beds, a mixture of en-suites and studios, across seven storeys.<\/span><\/p>\n

From \u00a3190 per week<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities: gym, study areas, common room, rooftop garden, on-site laundry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located on Lansdowne campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Skyline<\/b>: a contemporary halls of residence, run by a private company.<\/span><\/p>\n

430 beds, a mixture of ensuite rooms and studio flats.<\/span><\/p>\n

From \u00a3185 per week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities: gym, study rooms, a sky lounge with roof terrace, on-site laundry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located on Lansdowne campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Host<\/b>: a newer accommodation, privately run.<\/span><\/p>\n

260 rooms, a mixture of en-suites in flats of between four and ten students or studio rooms.<\/span><\/p>\n

From \u00a3175 per week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities: communal lounge, gym, outdoor courtyard, on-site laundry, roof terrace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located nearby to Lansdowne campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student Houses<\/b>:\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Alternatively, if you don\u2019t want to live in halls of residence you have the option of moving into a student house. There is an accommodation team at BU<\/a> that can help you find houses or you can contact estate agents in Bournemouth directly and organise this yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most students live in Winton or Charminster, both have high streets with several shops, supermarkets, cafes and bars. Buses pass through regularly, or the walk to Talbot Campus takes between 10-30 minutes depending on where your house is located.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Student Village<\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n

Bournemouth University runs Student Village, which is a complex of student houses located on Talbot Campus. Houses are either four or seven rooms, across two or three floors.<\/span><\/p>\n

They are available to postgraduate students that start in September or January.<\/span><\/p>\n

You have the option between standard, value or studio rooms which are between \u00a3144 and \u00a3257 per week.<\/span><\/p>\n

From my experience as a postgraduate student I have really enjoyed living in halls, I found it great having my own space and en-suite bathroom and making use of the amenities available. However, I do also have friends who are studying postgraduate courses and decided to get a share house or their own flat.
