For years, Bournemouth has had a reputation for being gay-friendly<\/a>, with lots of LGBTQ+ spots and events to offer.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re just arriving at university, or you\u2019re a third year dipping your toes in the water for the first time, here are some great LGBTQ+ spaces to start with.<\/p>\n

While Flirt Caf\u00e9<\/a> isn\u2019t an exclusively LGBTQ+ bar, it is known for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Located in the Triangle, a popular spot for LGBTQ+ venues, it is popular amongst the community.<\/p>\n\"Photo<\/a>\n

Similarly, DYMK<\/a> (Does Your Mother Know) Bar and Club is a well-known venue in the Bournemouth LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n

Both locations are known for hosting drag events and the occasional cabaret night!<\/p>\n

Pride Bar<\/a>, newly opened in 2023, is starting weekly drag shows this February. They\u2019ve already made a name for themselves in the community as a fun venue with well-priced drinks and fabulous, regular events.<\/p>\n

\"Photograph<\/a>Going strong since 2012, there\u2019s free entry before 11 pm, and \u00a32 tickets after with free re-entry. Xchange also hosts Karaoke nights and drag shows.<\/p>\n

But if you’re looking for something more relaxed, the Obsidian Cafe<\/a>, a creative space located in Boscombe, might be for you. They host regular open mic nights, writers showcases, and film and debate nights, but also have livelier drag nights and queen\u2019s and queer\u2019s nights.<\/p>\n

Dandy Issues<\/a>, the King of camp, is a well-known player in the Bournemouth drag scene, hosting regular shows and\"Photograph<\/a> performances all over town.<\/p>\n

They’re a great performer to follow online if you’re interested in getting involved in the Bournemouth LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n

In the summer, Bournemouth and Poole’s annual July pride festival- Bourne Free<\/a>– takes the city by storm. With caterers, bars, and a parade, Bourne Free is a fabulous celebration of LGBTQ+ pride, and a welcoming space to all.<\/p>\n

Of course, if you don’t want to stray too far from campus, Bournemouth University<\/a> has both societies and liberation networks for the LGBTQ+ community, as well lots of Pride events throughout the year.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
