This is a guest blog by Erin Pinnel, MA Scriptwriting<\/a> student. In this blog, she shares her insights into living and studying <\/strong>in Bournemouth as a Postgraduate student.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Studying in Bournemouth has been an amazing experience as someone who is living away from home for the first time. Probably one of the best selling points for me is its location. Right on the seafront Bournemouth is a beautiful town with lots of activity to be a part of.<\/p>\n

You can find inspiration in the local business district which keeps expanding and providing every type of shop that a student could need, you can sit down and work in beautiful areas like the park, and then you can head down to Bournemouth beach and pier to reward yourself after all of the hard work. I\u2019ve sat in the park on a nice day studying and I can\u2019t recommend it enough!<\/p>\n

If studying outside isn\u2019t your idea of relaxing then that\u2019s okay, the university has two main campuses which both have more than enough space to study and relax. Lansdowne campus<\/a> has a large library, caf\u00e9, and many bookable seminar rooms. Talbot campus<\/a>, the one where my course is predominantly held, has its own multi-floor library, student union building, multiple cafes, and shops, as well as the new Poole Gateway building with state-of-the-art editing suites, greenscreen rooms and TV studios. All of which can be accessed by postgraduate students. Especially as we work so collaboratively across the Faculty of Media & Communication working in our dedicated production houses throughout the year.<\/p>\n

There are also many activities and volunteering opportunities to engage in as well around campus and the city. Many clubs have student discounts, and if you enjoy a more local experience you can head to Dylan\u2019s Bar on Talbot campus for food, drinks and even karaoke. The university also has its own radio station which students can get involved with. I have helped out my friend presenting their show and it\u2019s been a really fun learning experience that I recommend trying when you\u2019re here. Not to mention, Bournemouth University has a number of different clubs, societies, and charity groups you can get involved with. I\u2019m involved in a few myself and they\u2019re a wonderful way to meet new people you might not normally get to meet.<\/p>\n

Accommodation in Bournemouth is very varied and accessible with locations close to both campuses. I am currently staying in the Student Village<\/a>, located next to Talbot Campus, a 2-minute walk to get to any building on campus. Student Village has studio rooms, shared kitchen accommodation for if you want to live with friends and even family houses for those studying with their families. Other accommodations have similar options which is great for if you want your own privacy and quiet to work, or if you work better living with others who can encourage you and help you to de-stress.<\/p>\n

Living here with all of these beautiful places to work and relax has definitely improved my work ethic and productivity, finding new places to write is one of my favourite things to do here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
