I did not have to be too much engaged elsewhere and that afforded me the little convenience that gave me room to concentrate on my studies while I rake in some cash. That was my experience, some worked outside the BU facilities. The journey to work while studying usually begins in most cases with the BU career and employability office. The employability office has and does advertise job opportunities, both part-time for current students and full-time roles for alumni. Secondly, the office offers support and useful and credible advice to students concerning part-time employment opportunities and how you can go about securing your preferred roles.

The office is also open to support you on how to write a good CV, how you can study and work overseas during your time at BU, get on work placements, shine at interviews and engage in other skills development programme as BU students. More importantly, to mention, the office can even employ you.

BU Student Ambassadors

The university itself employs its students, both undergraduate and postgraduate during their school year. There are roles like open days and marketing ambassador, school liaison ambassador, AskBU student ambassador, and international student ambassador. As a matter of fact, I am a BU International Student Ambassador with pride. Among other roles, I answer questions through unibuddy app from BU’s prospective students from different countries now too numerous to mention here. Permit me to mention that I am much more popular with Nigerian nay African prospective students. There are other student ambassador jobs with the Student Union of BU (SUBU) as well as the BU halls of residence, which you can engage in on a part-time basis.

Pink Flowers

The 20 Hours Restriction

An international student is only allowed to work for a maximum of twenty-hour per week during the term time of your study. The implication is you can only work as much as you like on the university recognised vacation such as the Summer or Easter break. The restriction is also the rule put in place by the UK Visas and Immigration, which may sanction any violation accordingly. It is worthy to mention that working for BU as an ambassador has a further restriction of fifteen hours per week as an international student.

Other Part-time Job Opportunities

Bournemouth University is at an advantage in terms of location.
