March 8th is marked as International Women\u2019s Day, a day to celebrate and recognise women and their achievements across the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For months prior to this day, SUBU\u2019s<\/a> Liberation Campaign teams have worked hard to set up the event and find vendors and small businesses to make a presence for the day.<\/p>\n

Hayley, Liberation Campaign Coordinator<\/p><\/div>\n

Hayley the SUBU Liberation Campaign Coordinator that organised the event said, \u201cThe set up of todays event is to celebrate women in businesses, charities that help women and community groups that help women. Women are fantastic and they do not get enough recognition for what they do so we want to highlight them.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hayley have worked closely together with Lauren, a student of MA Marketing Communications<\/a> and the Women\u2019s Liberation officer at SUBU. She spoke about how happy she is to see all the small businesses at the market. She said, \u201cIt\u2019s great to see women supporting each other and I am excited to see how today goes.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event itself hosted BU Societies such as Women in Engineering, charities such as STARS and vendors that sell art and jewellery. Students were able to answer questions about being a woman and share it up on a board. \"\"<\/a>Everyone present was able to chat to one another and Nerve Radio hosted short interviews with businesses to find out more about who they are and what they do.<\/p>\n

Nerve<\/a> Radio was asked to be present for the event and the whole set up and scheduling was handled by Amy. The head of evenings of Nerve Radio and a BA Hons Television Production<\/a> student put together a full schedule of women presenters. Amy said, \u201cI think it’s really good, I think it’s really inclusive and it’s a nice environment. Our presenters speak about women in TV and in social media, and just about being a woman overall. I think it is a great day and we have loads of great people here with great minds.”<\/p>\n

Overall the music, the conversations, and the day gave space for BU students to support women-owned businesses, open conversations with charities on important topics, and enjoy music of an all female playlist.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
