During my time in the UK I joined a few of the popular pub quizzes and learned a few facts, which can be a good conversation starter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The London Eye<\/strong> &#8211; did you know that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.londoneye.com\/\">London Eye<\/a> is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world and one rotation takes about 30 minutes? \u00a0So, while you enjoy the beautiful London skyline you can tick that off your bucket list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heritage Sites<\/strong> &#8211; London is also home to 4 World Heritage Sites: The Palace of Westminster, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrp.org.uk\/tower-of-london\/#gs.viM7PBk\">The Tower of London<\/a>, Maritime Greenwich, and Kew Botanical Gardens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The longest escalator <\/strong>&#8211; Angel Tube Station has the longest escalator in Western Europe, make sure you hop on it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>London Tubes<\/strong> &#8211; despite being the first and the largest underground system in the world, the <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/modes\/tube\/\">tube system<\/a> in the UK, is also the most expensive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you tell the time, Ben<\/strong>?\u00a0 No, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/bigben\">Big Ben<\/a> is not a clock, it is a bell! It can make a lot of noise!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chicken Tikka Masala<\/strong> &#8211; don\u2019t be surprised but chicken tikka masala is as British as Sherlock Holmes and can be found in many restaurants throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Older than the pyramids!<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.english-heritage.org.uk\/visit\/places\/stonehenge\/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMInuj9iJ2o3AIVRbvtCh3yBgPMEAAYASAAEgLMpPD_BwE&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\">Stonehenge<\/a> is older than the Pyramids. It was created in around 3000BC, making it older than Egypt\u2019s pyramids and is just one hour away from Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do people really call you <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/blog\/most-googled-why-is-london-called-the-big-smoke-011317\"><strong>Big Smoke<\/strong><\/a><strong>? <\/strong>There have been many different names for London throughout history, such as Londonium, Ludenwic, and Ludenburg. I am happy with London and definitely glad that Big Smoke in now history!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talking about names\u2026 <\/strong>it is not a joke! There are actually over 30,000 people named John Smith! So, if you happen to meet someone with that name, just be glad that you have a unique name.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spooky Bridge<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/London_Bridge\">London Bridge<\/a> is said to be haunted, as many people have witnessed a woman dressed in black roaming around it in the night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>French, really?<\/strong> Yes, French was the official language in the UK for about 300 years!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hot chocolate<\/strong> &#8211; did you know the first hot chocolate store was opened in London? It makes sense, since the English drink more of it than anyone else in the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GB vs UK<\/strong> &#8211; Great Britain isn\u2019t the United Kingdom! Great Britain and the United Kingdom are actually two different things. The United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland, but Great Britain doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Love for books<\/strong> &#8211; London is home to the largest library in the world with over 170 million items in its catalogue.<\/p>\n<p>There you go!
