My journey to BU has not been effortless. I had to work to get what I wanted, but as soon as I was offered a place, I knew it was all worthwhile!<\/p>\n
Although I had decided that Scriptwriting was my dream career early on, I knew that I had not chosen the easiest path. After visiting an Open Day, I set my heart on attending BU but, it was hundreds of miles from home, and at the time I was still at school. I could only really do Scriptwriting as a Master\u2019s degree and only after a few years of fundraising. I got my head down and set to work.<\/p>\n
By the time I got to the application process years later, I was riddled with doubt. Would they think I was too unfocused because I had studied something else before? Was my creative writing actually awful and no one had dared to tell me? Would I make it through the first step of application? I was shaking as I completed the process.<\/p>\n
When it all threatened to overwhelm me, my mother would say \u201cDon\u2019t forget why you\u2019re doing this. Think of yourself as a little pony facing an obstacle course. These are big jumps even for a plucky little pony. The mass of jumps looks terrifying, but you just focus on one hurdle at a time and don\u2019t worry about the next one. You\u2019ll make it to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve never been much of a jumper, but this advice helped me to remain reasonably calm throughout the application process and the interview \u2013 until I received the offer letter, at which point I naturally went berserk.
