All of our performance teams compete against other universities in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions. If you’re competitive about your sport and want the chance to represent BU in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions, register yourself for a TeamBU Trial.
Our range sports consisting of 60 teams, coupled with numerous individual disciplines, compete in BUCS National and Regional competitions. Our performance programme is supported by a wide variety of partnerships with local professional and semi-professional clubs. This enables athletes to compete at high quality facilities as well as provide opportunities for local and national league competitions.

*To attend a TeamBU Trial:
- Register yourself prior to attending a trial (Next registration period will be available August 2020 for 2020/21 season)
- Turn up to the designated trial times (Example Left)
If you cannot attend a trial or need more information please come into SportBU reception or email us.
To do this, you need to obtain TeamBU membership and complete a TeamBU Agreement Affiliation form – you won’t be able to represent BU without do this. The British University & Colleges Sport (BUCS) identifies its eligibility criteria (7.1.1-7.1.3). Affiliation forms will be distributed via the captains, but will also be available at SportBU reception for individual collection.
**As a TeamBU athlete you need to affiliate to SportBU each year**

Please Download the form and familiarise yourself with the TeamBU Athlete Code of Conduct, the form includes all terms and conditions which you should read thoroughly. In addition to this, all of our teams will follow the National Governing Body Rules and Regulations associated to their sport.
TeamBU Team Affiliation Fee’s
“For a student to be eligible for BUCS activities players must be permitted by the governing body of the sport concerned, an internal student registered at the University and his/her Union or Athletic Union subscription must be paid.”
These fee’s entitles you to access the following:
- Personal sports insurance (summary of cover, claim forms and support available via sportBU)
- Training t-shirt
- Weekly practical coaching sessions
- £30 reduction on SportBU gym membership (only at time of payment of signing TeamBU Agreement)
- BUCS affiliation fees
- TeamBU transport
- Entry to our Team Photo Day and annual Sports Ball
- Access to weekly conditioning sessions.
All affiliation fees need to be paid before the first TeamBU game fixture, and failure to do so will make you ineligible to represent BU. You can pay your affiliation fee at SportBU reception.
As of 2016/17 academic year, SportBU is proud to announce a NEW kit sponsor, Viper10. All TeamBU will need to be supplied with matching branded clothing. Your TeamBU affiliation fee must be paid first but once this is done you may proceed to purchase your kit at the ‘kit pick-up weekend’. Each team has an allocated time so please check the schedule with SportBU reception.

Who needs to buy New Viper10 clothing???
Any student becoming a TeamBU athlete for the first time; a fresher (first year); or returning from placement will be required to purchase New clothing to match the TeamBU design. Any returning players have the option to purchase clothing on a needs basis but is not essential as all clothing should have been bought previously. For full kit package costs click the image (left).
