TeamBU Sports Brief

At SportBU we have men’s and women’s competitive badminton teams that compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league and trophy competitions.

Leagues & Competition Information

For the 17/18 season both our men’s team will compete in the BUCS Tier 3A as well as the western Conference Cup. Our women’s team will compete in Tier 2A and the western Conference Cup.

Training & Conditioning

Times: Mondays 8.00pm – 10.00pm (men’s), Mondays 6.00pm – 8.00pm (women’s).

Location: Sports Hall, Talbot Campus.

As part of each team’s weekly training schedule additional specific sessions on flexibility, SAQ (Strength, Agility and Quickness) and fitness are provided by our Strength & Conditioning (S&C) team. Our coaches work alongside the S&C team to identify areas to focus this sports specific training to improve physical strength, power and performance.

Spectators

Fixtures are played on Wednesdays in the Sports Hall, Talbot Campus, please come down to support our teams!

Scholarship

Athletes who have played or competed at a regional, national or semi-professional standard will be eligible to Apply for a Scholarship to support them in their sport whilst at university. Additional Opportunities

BUCS Nationals – held in February each year at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, the Badminton Individual Championships (singles and doubles) sees the country’s best university badminton players compete against one another.
