We feel this is something everyone should have done; it is informative, educational and non-invasive way to learn about your health and fitness levels. The check includes body fat, muscle mass and hydration levels and allows you to track your journey toward your goals.
Our qualified team will take you to a private room where our equipment will be connected up, allowing us to provide readings for you to take away and provide an insight in to your lifestyle and progression.
We will take your height and weight to provide a basic structure for the apparatus to work from and attach some stickers connected to our Bodystat machine in specific places on your hands and feet. Once we have asked you a few questions about your current activity levels and age, we will hit go and within a minute your readings will be available for us to give you.
Our team will let you know if you are within certain parameters and can provide suggestions on how to improve, if you so wish.
Currently we provide health checks free for our premium members, which can be booked at our reception desk each week as well as on specific drop in days. Otherwise they are priced at £10 for any of our other memberships.
Exercise can help reduce or manage some medical conditions and issues such as anxiety or depression. Student wellbeing advisors and line managers may suggest that you could benefit from an appointment with a exercise referral consultant at SportBU who can support you with an exercise programme or advice around your limitations and fitness levels. We can also signpost you toward nutritional advice, group exercise or certain sport sessions.
Contact your line manager (as a BU member of staff), student wellbeing or welfare advisor for more information on Student Wellbeing.
