Bournemouth University appreciates that the coronavirus (or COVID-19) pandemic is a cause for concern for students, colleagues and the wider BU community. The welfare of our staff, students and visitor is the university’s highest priority and since early January we have been continuously monitoring the situation and liaising closely with Public Health England (PHE) and acting in line with their latest advice at all times.
We are currently in an unprecedented and ever changing situation with the coronavirus pandemic, and we appreciate this can be a cause of concern. Bournemouth University has been considering the impact of latest government advice related to Covid-19 on its operations, including the services provided by SportBU.
While the university remains open during this period, we have taken the decision that the campuses will be largely closed from 5pm today, Friday 20 March. Therefore SportBU will be closing and all activities and access will cease until further notice.
I am sorry if this is a disappointment and hope that this is a fairly short-term measure. We will resume normal operations as soon as we able to do so.
SportBU Closed until 01 May 2020
