Poole Swimming Club is excited to be working with SportBU, Bournemouth University in a new training partnership for its youth swimmers. Home to Bournemouth University Swimming Team, this exciting professional association enables both Club and BU to provide a progressive and transparent pathway for athletes from setting out on their competitive journey at a young age all the way through to University swimming and beyond in the competitive masters programme.
Opportunities also exist for Bournemouth University Staff and students to work with young high performance athletes in developing Sports Science support in areas such as psychology, biomechanics and nutrition.
SportBU have been growing its sport science services over the last few seasons for its performance sport teams and scholars and now has the ability to engage with local partner clubs, such as Poole Swimming Club, to provide support services to its members.
Barry Alldrick Head Coach of Poole Swimming Club supported the move saying; “The new partnership further incorporates a structured and progressive Strength & Conditioning pathway to support the athletic ability of our swimmers in small highly specialist and focussed groups by the experienced staff at SportBU. Its great to know that they can also support injured swimmers as well by accessing specialist rehabilitation services to speed recovery and get them back in the pool quicker.
Sport Development Manager Martin Wells commented; “We are very excited to be working with Poole Swimming Club in supporting the physical development of their talented youth swimmers. The club has a great reputation locally and nationally, it has seen high level results with its athletes and from our networking with its coaches and committee members recently we recognise it has a very professional outlook for setting standards and delivering a Performance Environment
