Ed returns to the MSA Protyre Asphalt Championship (9 June) for his latest challenge…

The Belgian round will be the first foray into Europe for the teenager and with the seasoned co-driver Yan Griffiths alongside, the pair will be hoping for a strong showing on the famous Belgian Tarmac. Ed and Yokohama Tyres UK enter their fifth year together and the young Channel Islander will be keen to show off the potential of the new Yokohama asphalt tyres which were launched earlier this year.

Although Fossey missed the Manx Rally round due to exams at Bournemouth University, he currently leads the R2 class in a Peugeot 208. Fossey’s aim will be to enjoy the Belgian roads and gain more valuable championship points. There is also an extra opportunity to measure his development against the best in the Prestone MSA British Rally Championship who themselves are using the event as a warm-up to the legendary Renties Ypres Rally later this month.

Seeded at 42 out of some 120 entries, Fossey and Griffiths will be in good company and intend to use Fossey’s asphalt experience to date to secure a strong finish. The 2017 BTRDA 1400S Forest Champion is excited to journey into Europe.

Ed Fossy rally car sportbu“I have always loved watching the Belgian rallies and I know it is going to be a big challenge to drive on the closed roads. To succeed you have to cut into the ditches to shave off vital seconds here and there, which will take some getting used to. Yan (Griffiths) has competed in Belgium several times and I am sure we will be a good pairing. It’s going to be exciting as well to see how we perform against the British Rally Championship R2 drivers. With some 60 miles of competitive stages, we’ll

be looking to familiarise ourselves and utilise the new Yokohama A051’s.“

For the first European challenge by the teenager, the youngest registered asphalt championshp contender  will be working with a local Belgian team to ensure that he has the best support on the day.
